This qualification has been designed to develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to work safely, effectively and professionally within the pest management industry. The programme is delivered using a blended learning approach, combining structured guided online learning, tutor-led workshops, workplace evidence and final proctored online assessment.

The programme consists of the following stages:

Candidate Induction
Introduction to the qualification, programme structure, learner responsibilities, assessment requirements and learning resources.

Pre-Course Foundation Reading
Recommended background reading designed to introduce key pest management principles and prepare you for the structured guided learning modules.

Module 1 – Biology and Control of Rodent Pests
Structured guided online learning followed by a 3-hour tutor-led workshop, delivered online or in person (please refer to your course schedule for workshop dates).

Module 2 – Biology and Control of Other Vertebrate Pests
Structured guided online learning.

Module 3 – Biology and Control of Invertebrate Pests
Structured guided online learning followed by a 3-hour tutor-led workshop, delivered online or in person (please refer to your course schedule for workshop dates).
Guided Revision
A tutor-led revision session, delivered online or in person (please refer to your course schedule for dates), designed to consolidate learning and prepare candidates for the final assessment.
Portfolio of Evidence
Completion of the required vertebrate and invertebrate pest management reports, supported by appropriate workplace evidence. Following submission, candidates will participate in a professional discussion, conducted by telephone or online, to review and authenticate their portfolio evidence.
Final Assessment
Following successful completion of the guided learning programme, workshops and portfolio requirements, candidates will undertake the Lantra Level 3 Award in Pest Management Services – Trained Professional User final Proctored online assessment in accordance with Lantra Awards' assessment requirements.
Learning Outcomes
Throughout this programme you will develop the knowledge and understanding required to:

Identify common vertebrate and invertebrate pest species.

Understand the biology, behaviour and lifecycle of pest species.

Apply the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Assess pest activity and identify factors contributing to infestations.

Select appropriate chemical and non-chemical pest management techniques.

Understand environmental responsibilities and risk assessment procedures.

Apply safe working practices and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Understand the safe, legal and responsible use of biocides and rodenticides.

Implement proofing, exclusion and preventative pest management measures.

Produce accurate pest management documentation and treatment records.
-
Advise clients on pest prevention, hygiene and legislative responsibilities.

Demonstrate professional judgement when selecting and implementing pest management strategies.

Each module includes carefully selected learning resources, including tutor-prepared presentations, supporting reference material and a formative knowledge check. These activities are designed to introduce the knowledge required before attending the tutor-led workshop.
